We also not been given any refund to date (except Vrbo fee of $499). We were required to pay 2 months in advance ($12,000) for our Maui rental for 10 days and Hawaii Air cancelled our flights leaving May 1, 2010 since the Governor of Hawaii has shut all down the Islands until May 20th+++

When we contacted VRBO, we were told to try to work with the homeowner to get our refund. To date, we haven't gotten a response and VRBO is not acting as their "Travel Assurance" advertises...

What does the owner want us to do - NO AIRFARAE, 14 day quarantine, no restaurants/parks are open etc...

Sounds more like a real estate group attempting to take advance during a "State of Emergency".

I would suggest we all send a letter to the Governor office for an official statement and do the same with the Federal Task force behind predator behavior behind our State of Emergency

User's recommendation: Write complaint letters to the Governor office in Hawaii and The Federal Task force on fraud.

Product or Service Mentioned: Vrbo House Rental.

Monetary Loss: $12465.

Preferred solution: Full refund.

VRBO Pros: Online service.

VRBO Cons: I believe they are not acting ethical like airbnb.

Never pay in advance. Nothing more than a token deposit.

If there's no way around it, bail. Walk away.

I would not give a free $12,000.00 loan for two months to anyone.
